“Just When You Think”

Just when you think it’s safe to go outside. It almost feels normal out there. The lights are bright on Broadway! The arenas are full and the kids go to school. Spending time with family or friends or total strangers who just want to show you some love <3. This is how it’s supposed to be, no? You know…Norman Rockwell, Alvin Ailey, The Rock or the Rockettes? Badges? We don’t need no stinkin’ badges! I got my vaxx card in my back pocket : ) .

But wait…what’s that there? Omicron? “You can’t be serious!”Sounds like a new communication start-up; or an acronym for “oh my insides crave renewable organic nutrition.” I thought I’d seen the last lonely, priceless muddied mask sitting on the asphalt of name the parking lot. Don’t tell me you’re taking my euphoric anticipation for a happy, healthy 2022 and stickin’ a Grinchly fork in it!

Here’s the dig. There you are at a nice “little” show or a holiday parade, or maybe just taking notes in class like you think you should. One moment you’re here and then you’re not. Because ever since we were removed from the Garden something is just around the corner; and if you’re ready or not it’s coming sure as taxes. On what can you stand when your soul is required of you? Jesus said, “But to what shall I liken this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their companions, and saying:

‘We played the flute for you,

And you did not dance’

We mourned for you,

And you did not lament’”

Matt. 11:16-17
